Pevnosť sv. Nikole/ Nicholasa, Mikuláša/ v každom jazyku ináč.

Jedného pekného rána sa moja milá neter Miška obetovala, a išla so mnou pešo zo Solarisu, cez Zablače až k pevnosti sv. Nikole. Tri roky pri niekoľkých plavbách okolo som ju obdivovala, a tento rok sa mi splnilo veľké želanie a podarilo sa mi prísť na túto nádhernú pevnosť suchou nohou vďaka tomu, že sa v priebehu zimy podarilo Šibenčanom postaviť turistický chodník. Tento turistický chodník končí pri pevnosti sv. Nikole, a začína za marinou Mandalinou v Šibeniku, chodník sa tiahne ponad prieliv sv. Ante. V tomto článku sa venujeme časti tesne pred pevnosťou sv. Nikole, zvyšok Vám priblížim v článku venovanom tomuto krásnemu vyhliadkovému chodníku, ktorý sme úspešne zdolali ďalší deň na bicykloch, bola to riadna makačka ale stálo to za každú minútu námahy a aj za 3 dni boľavé zadky a nohy.

Pre tých, ktorí smerujú do Šibenika , Solarisu alebo na Podsolarsko, čím všetkých dovolenkárov , ktorí si dali povedať, ako je tu krásne zdravím, tak tu je skrátený návod ako sa tam dostať. Či už zo Solarisu, Šibenika alebo Podsolarska, vždy sa musíte dostať do Zablače, odtiaľ popri Malom jezere zobrať smer Tvrdjava sv. Nikole, ja tam na križovatke tabuľa, tak by ste to nemali minúť, niekoľko sto metrov po asfaltovej ceste a ste na mieste, kde sa ešte trocha pracuje, ale dá sa to prejsť , aj pešo, aj na bicykloch....prípadne sa dá odstaviť auto na pobreží, komu by sa nechcelo ísť ten necelý kilometrík zo Zablače. Prídete k plotu, kde je veľká tabuľa , že EÚ niečo stavia, tak to je oznam k chodníku, už sa Vám otvorí pohľad na pevnosť, doľava po chodníku prídete na ostrovček na prvej fotke, ktorý prejdete krížom za 3 minúty a ste pred pevnosťou. Cestička hore nebola veľmi pohodlná, ale dalo sa to s trochou obozretnosti zvládnuť bez problémov. Ten výhľad stojí za námahu, doporučujem to absolvovať. Otvorí sa Vám výhľad na prieliv sv. Anteho až do Šibenika, na opačnú stranu až do Vodíc. Nasajete atmosféru minulých storočí, ked ešte strašili Turci v Európe, niektoré miesta boli až strašidelné na to, že sme tam boli samé. Stretli sme tam výletníkov z ostrova Zlarin, aj nás chceli vziať loďou na Zlarin, ale kedže smena Zlarine boli deň predtým, s vďakou sme to odmietli, výletníkom zakývali a pokračovali sme ďalej v snorení za minulosťou.

Popri chodníku sú urobené stoly a lavičky na viacerých miestach, dá sa tam posedieť, niečo pojesť , oddýchnuť, pokochať sa výhľadom a aj sa okúpať.

St. Nicholas Fortress (Croatian: Tvrđava Sv. Nikole) is a fortress located in the town of Šibenik, one of the oldest native Croatian towns on the eastern shores of the Adriatic, in central Dalmatia, Croatia

Only St. Nicholas Fortress is at sea, at the entrance of Šibenik port, and the other three are on land.

St. Nicholas Fortress was built on the left side at the entrance of the St. Anthony (Sv. Ante) channel, on the island called Ljuljevac, in front of the Šibenik port. St. Nicholas Fortress got its name from the Benedictine Monastery of St. Nicholas, which was on the island, but due to construction of the fortress had to be demolished. At the request of domestic Croat population of Šibenik, the Venetian captain Alojzije de Canal decided to build a fort on an island of Ljuljevac in 30 April 1525. Fortress was designed and built by the famous Venetian architect and builder Hyeronimus di San Michaela. It was built by in the 16th century to prevent Turkish boats from reaching the port. St. Nicholas Fortress was armed with 32 cannon. However, its imposing appearance and size were a bigger threat to the enemy than canons.

The fortress is one of the most valuable and best preserved examples of defense architecture in Dalmatia. The fortress is made of brick because this material was considered to be most resistant to cannon balls, while the foundations are made of stone. Although defense capabilities of the fortress have never been tested in military operations, the structure still proved successful in protecting the city from sea-bound enemy attacks. During the centuries of use, the structure served to various armies and has undergone a number of renovations, some of them made necessary because of the development of arms. It was completely abandoned by the military in 1979 and has been in renovation ever since.

St. Nicholas’ fortress is situated at the entrance to St. Anthony’s channel, and it was constructed during the 16th century in order to protect the town from the Turkish attacks from the sea.

It was built after the plans of the Venetian military architect Michelle Sammichelli. White stone was used for building the lower parts of the fortress and red stone for the upper parts. St. Nicholas’ fortress is one of the strongest maritime fortification architecture on the Croatian Coast of the Adriatic Sea.
